LYDC have been invited to join DU Dance NI on their youth dance residential project 'SHIFT" in Belfast with Robby Graham and SouthPaw Dance Company in August 2024. The project is incredibly exciting and will be an amazing experience for the dancers.
DU Dance is generously covering all production and accommodation costs.
Participants will need to cover the cost of travel and food for the duration of the residency.

Robby Graham and SouthPaw Dance Company (https://southpawdancecompany.co.uk) will make a new outdoor performance work based on the environment crisis.
The work will involve 80 youth dancers and will be accompanied by a live rock band.
The work will also be surrounded by hundreds of Belfast children who will be working on the same theme.
The residential will take place 15th - 22nd August.
Groups will travel to Belfast on the 15th of August - Departing from Dance Limerick Car Park at 11am
Rehearsals will take place from 16th - 20th
Performances will take place on 21st and 22nd
Return travel will take place after the performance on 22nd.
Accommodation will be provided at Stranmillis University College in their halls of residence.

Each group of dancers will be housed on a corridor with single rooms.
Each corridor has a common room and a small kitchen.
All rehearsal and performance venues are walking distance from the halls of residence:
16th – Stranmillis College Dance Hall
17th & 18th – Queens University PEC Minor Hall
19th & 20th – Queens University Whitla Hall

1X plate, 1X bowl, 1X cup, 1X mug, 1X fork, knife & spoon, 1X lunchbag / tupperwear if required. We have access to a shared kitchen, but they are not equipped.
The accommodation does have a launderette if you need to do a washing on the trip.
You will need to purchase tokens from the residency office. They are £2 wash & £2 dry.
DU Dance will provide some detergent but note that the residency office only takes cash.
Dancers are requested to bring clothes with them which can be dyed to be used as costumes.
These can be old clothes, purchased from charity shops, etc, and can be t-shirts, joggers, long skirts, dresses, shirts, trousers, etc.
They need to be plain, light colours and made from natural fibres which can be dyed such as cotton, linen, viscose, bamboo, silk, etc.
Synthetic fibres such as polyester, nylon, acrylic, etc cannot be dyed in the same way and should be avoided.
